The sign-up bonus on the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card is making like a songbird: heading north in the spring.
For new applications received, the card is sweetening its welcome perks. It describes the new bonus like this: "FOR A LIMITED TIME - Buy one ticket, get one for just the taxes and fees with Alaska’s Famous Companion Fare™ ($0 fare plus taxes and fees from just $22) after you make $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of your account opening. There are no blackout dates. Get 30,000 bonus miles after you make $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of your account opening."
The previous version of the sign-up bonus allowed you to earn 30,000 bonus miles after making $1,000 or more in purchases within the first 90 days of account opening, but it didn't come with the two-for-one deal.
Miles are worth 1.4 cents each, on average, according to NerdWallet’s valuation, making this portion of the bonus worth $420. With the limited time offer, the card’s bonus could easily be worth $1,000 or more.
For an annual fee of $95, the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card comes with plenty of perks:
One companion fare ticket each year on your account anniversary, starting from $121 ($99, plus taxes and fees starting at $22). This is in addition to the two-for-one ticket. Companion fare tickets are valid on Alaska flights booked on alaskaair.com.
A free checked bag on Alaska flights for you and up to six other passengers on the same reservation
No foreign transaction fees
Depending on your creditworthiness, the issuer might send you a slightly different version of this card with a smaller annual fee and lower ongoing rewards. Read more about the card's benefits on the Alaska Airlines Visa Signature® credit card details page and NerdWallet's full editorial review.
