Best Credit Cards for Food Delivery
Many or all of the products on this page are from partners who compensate us when you click to or take an action on their website, but this does not influence our evaluations or ratings. Our opinions are our own.
These days, ordering in is as much a part of our daily lives as dining out. Thankfully, many of the best credit cards for groceries and dining also offer rewards, benefits and discounts that help you get food delivered straight to your door.
Here are the best credit cards for food delivery, including a breakdown of which cards are best based on your delivery service of choice.
Best credit cards for food delivery
The Visa and Mastercard payment networks also feature some food delivery benefits. For example, Visa offers a discount with Shipt, while some Mastercard holders are eligible for deals on Instacart. But benefits that come from payment networks are different from benefits, like rewards, that come from your credit card's issuer (meaning the lending institution behind the card). Card issuers can sometimes choose to supplement or omit benefits from payment networks.

Top pick for DoorDash
DoorDash Rewards Mastercard®
Annual fee: $0.
Key food delivery rewards and benefits:
4% cash back on DoorDash and Caviar orders.
3% cash back on dining when purchased directly from a restaurant.
2% cash back on grocery purchases (online or in-person).
If you’re a DoorDash die-hard, the uncapped 4% cash back on all DoorDash and Caviar orders will help offset the high fees you’ll incur for using the service. New cardholders will also get a one free year of membership to DoorDash’s subscription delivery service, DashPass. This subscription, which normally costs $96 annually, includes a $0 delivery fee and reduced service fees on orders of $12 or more.
Alternative option
The Chase Sapphire Reserve® earns 3 points per $1 dollar spent on dining, which includes delivery services. Cardholders can also get a $5 monthly DoorDash in-app credit and complimentary DashPass subscription through Dec. 31, 2027 (or for a minimum of 12 months, depending on your activation date).
While those rewards and benefits come with a hefty annual fee of $550, the card provides flexibility to earn bonus rewards for delivery services beyond just DoorDash.
Top pick for Grubhub
American Express® Gold Card
Annual fee: $325. Terms apply (see rates and fees).
Key food delivery rewards and benefits:
4 Membership Rewards® points per $1 spent at restaurants worldwide, plus takeout and delivery in the U.S. (on up to $50,000 in purchases per year).
$120 Dining Credit: Earn up to a total of $10 in statement credits monthly when you pay with the Gold Card at Grubhub, Goldbelly, The Cheesecake Factory, Wine.com and Five Guys. (Enrollment required.)
Terms apply.
The card is the ideal pick for Grubhub loyalists. It offers $10 in monthly statement credits, on up to $120 annually, when you use the card at either food delivery service. And the card’s 4x earning rate on dining means you’ll earn elevated rewards on your deliveries as well. Terms apply.
Further, cardholders can earn 4 points per $1 for Uber Eats purchases, which also makes the card a great choice for ordering with the delivery service (more on this below). Terms apply.
Top pick for Uber Eats
American Express® Gold Card
With its 4x back per $1 on Uber Eats purchases, the aforementioned American Express® Gold Card is also a solid choice for Uber Eats. Additionally, cardholders can automatically earn $10 in monthly Uber Cash, up to $120 per year, when they connect their card to their Uber account (enrollment required). Note that this offer is only available for U.S. Uber Eats orders and rides. Terms apply (see rates and fees).
Alternative options
The Platinum Card® from American Express features a $200 yearly Uber credit — $15 each month and $35 in December — which can be used toward Uber Eats purchases. Note that this offer is only applicable for U.S. Uber Eats orders and rides. Terms apply (see rates and fees).
Top pick for Amazon’s food delivery services
Prime Visa
Annual fee: $0. (But you must be an Amazon Prime member to get this card, which requires a yearly fee.)
Key food delivery rewards and benefits:
5% back at Amazon.com and at Whole Foods Market, including deliveries placed through Amazon.com and various other Amazon food delivery services.
2% back at restaurants, including takeout and delivery.
If you do the majority of your grocery shopping on Amazon.com or Wholefoodsmarket.com, the Prime Visa is the clear choice for rewarding your spending. The card’s highest rate of 5% back applies to food deliveries placed through Amazon.com and many of its delivery subsets, including Amazon Fresh and Prime Now. This rate also applies to orders placed through Wholefoodsmarket.com.

Top pick for Instacart
Instacart Mastercard®
Annual fee: $0.
Key food delivery rewards and benefits:
Earn 5% cash back on the Instacart app and Instacart.com purchases.
Get a free year of Instacart+ and a $100 Instacart credit automatically upon approval. Membership auto-renews. Terms apply.
If you do most of your grocery shopping through Instacart, the Instacart Mastercard® can be highly rewarding, offering 5% cash back on your purchases there. That's as good a rate as you'll find among $0-annual-fee cards. The free one-year trial of Instacart+ makes it an even more alluring choice as Instacart+ subscribers get free delivery on orders over $35 — not to mention reduced service fees.

Alternative option
In terms of rewards rates, the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express one-ups even the Instacart Mastercard® — earning an industry-leading 6% cash back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 per year in purchases (then 1%) — and Instacart purchases qualify for that 6% rate.* Terms apply (see rates and fees).
However, you'll have to be OK shelling out an annual fee (currently $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95. Terms apply.) Also note that its 6% rate is capped, whereas the Instacart Mastercard® has no such spending limit. Terms apply.
Top pick for meal kits
Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card
Annual fee: $0.
Key food delivery rewards and benefits:
3% back in a category of your choice (from a list of six, including dining and online shopping) and 2% back on grocery stores and wholesale clubs, for the first $2,500 of combined bonus spending per quarter (then 1% back).
For the dining category, the 3% rate applies to purchases made directly from eateries as well as those made through third-party delivery services. For the online shopping category, the 3% rate applies to any grocery delivery transaction made online.
The card's 2% back at grocery stores and wholesale clubs applies to online grocery orders made through delivery services.
Meal kit services including Blue Apron, Home Chef and HelloFresh are sold primarily online. To this end, holders of the Bank of America® Customized Cash Rewards credit card who select online shopping as their rotating bonus category can earn its 3% cash back for meal kit purchases made online.
However, the issuer notes that if you selected a different rotating bonus category (gas, home improvement, etc.), an online meal kit transaction would not be eligible for the card’s 3% online shopping rate.
Alternative option
The $0-annual-fee Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express offers $180 toward online Home Chef purchases in the form of $15 monthly statement credits. You must pay for the orders with the card to receive the credits, and enrollment is required. This benefit renews annually. Terms apply (see rates and fees).
Beyond that, the card also earns 3% cash back at U.S. supermarkets on up to $6,000 spent per year (then 1%). And as with its more expensive sibling (the aforementioned Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express), popular food delivery services like Instacart and Peapod qualify for that bonus rate.
Because Home Chef meal kits are sold in select physical grocery stores as well as online, it's worth figuring out whether you prefer delivery or shopping in person. For those who exclusively order online, the Blue Cash Everyday® Card from American Express might be the more sensible choice so that you can enjoy those Home Chef credits. But note that even though the more expensive Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express (below) doesn't offer such credits, it can still earn you up to 6% back on Home Chef purchases — regardless of where they were made. Terms apply.
Top pick for general grocery delivery
Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express
Annual fee: $0 intro annual fee for the first year, then $95.
Key food delivery rewards and benefits:
6% cash back on up to $6,000 spent per year at U.S. supermarkets (then 1% back). Terms apply (see rates and fees).
If you’re not subscribed to one grocery delivery service, like Amazon or Instacart, the Blue Cash Preferred® Card from American Express can earn you top-of-class rewards for general grocery delivery. In addition to in-store purchases made at U.S. supermarkets, the card’s 6% also applies to online orders made from U.S. supermarkets and via third-party delivery services like Instacart — as long as the purchase is through an eligible U.S. supermarket. Note that this excludes purchases made at superstores, convenience stores and warehouse clubs. Terms apply.
Alternative option
The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card can also earn you solid rewards for general grocery delivery (not including Target, Walmart and wholesale clubs). It earns 3 points per $1 spent on online grocery purchases including pickup and delivery that are placed online with grocery stores, specialty food stores, meal kit delivery services and any other grocery delivery service retailer that classifies as grocery store merchants. While you’ll have to pay a $95 annual fee to hold the card, there’s no cap on how much you can spend on groceries, as you'll find with some other cards.
Top pick for general food delivery
U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card
Annual fee: $0.
Key food delivery rewards and benefits:
4 points per $1 spent on dining, including takeout and delivery.
2 points per $1 spent at grocery stores, including grocery delivery (discount stores/supercenters and wholesale clubs excluded, effective Sept. 9, 2024).
If you're not loyal to any one food delivery service, the U.S. Bank Altitude® Go Visa Signature® Card is the victor when it comes to robust rewards for food delivery across the board. Its 4x rate applies to all the big third-party meal delivery services, including DoorDash, Uber Eats, Grubhub and Seamless. And as for purchases made through grocery delivery services, cardholders will earn the card’s 2x rate as well. All of that for an annual fee of $0.
Although there are other great credit cards that earn higher rewards on both restaurant and grocery delivery, they typically come with hefty yearly costs, and their rewards are often capped.
Alternative option
The $0-annual-fee Capital One Savor Cash Rewards Credit Card earns 3% back on dining and grocery store purchases, including delivery purchases made directly from restaurants, through most meal delivery services and online grocery orders made through most delivery services, respectively. Note that retailers like Target and Walmart are not eligible for this 3% rate.
Other possibilities
In terms of grocery delivery, if you typically shop at a particular retailer, then it might make more sense for you to opt for a store-branded credit card rather than a general-purpose card.
Examples include the Sam's Club® Mastercard®, the Target Circle™ Credit Card and the Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi. Note, though, that for some of these kinds of co-branded cards, you may only be able to use them — or redeem rewards earned with them — at affiliated stores.
