Fact Checked

Chase and Air Canada have a new, limited-time offer on the Aeroplan® Credit Card.

From Sept. 26, 2024, to Jan. 15, 2025, the card’s welcome bonus offer is worth up to 100,000 points. Cardmembers can earn 75,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months from account opening, plus an additional 25,000 points after spending $20,000 in the first 12 months from account opening.

NerdWallet values Air Canada Aeroplan points at 1.4 cents each, making this bonus offer worth an estimated $1,400. Those extra miles can help offset the card's $95 annual fee when you book award travel on Air Canada or partner airlines within the Star Alliance network.

In addition to the new limited-time offer, cardholders will receive the following ongoing benefits:

  • Earn 3 points per dollar spent on groceries, restaurants and purchases made directly with Air Canada.

  • Earn 1 point per dollar spent on all other qualifying purchases.

  • 500 bonus points for every $2,000 spent in a month (up to a maximum of 1,500 points per month).

  • TSA PreCheck®, Global Entry or NEXUS statement credit every four years.

  • Automatic Aeroplan 25k Elite Status for the rest of the first calendar year of cardholding and the entire consecutive year.

  • 1 free checked bag for you and up to eight traveling companions when flying on Air Canada.

🤓Nerdy Tip

If you don’t have immediate plans to fly, you can also use the card’s Pay Yourself Back® feature to redeem points toward a statement credit against other eligible travel purchases. Terms apply.

Should you apply for the Aeroplan® Credit Card?

If you fly Air Canada or other Star Alliance airlines like United Airlines, the Aeroplan® Credit Card can help you rack up points for award flights or to redeem against other travel through the Pay Yourself Back® feature.

But if you don't fly on Air Canada or its partners often, you'd be better off with a general rewards card that earns flexible points such as the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card. That card earns Chase Ultimate Rewards® that can be transferred to over a dozen travel partners, including Air Canada.
