For a limited time, Chase is boosting the sign-up bonus on all three of its Southwest Airlines consumer credit cards.

Through June 26, 2024, new holders of the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card, the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card and the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card will qualify for the following bonus:

Earn 85,000 bonus points after spending $3,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.

NerdWallet values Southwest miles at 1.5 cents each, making this offer worth more than $1,200. That’s a substantial increase over the previous offer, which gave new cardholders 50,000 bonus points after spending $1,000 on purchases in the first 3 months.

In addition to the increased sign-up bonus, cardholders will receive the following ongoing benefits:

Should you apply for a Southwest credit card?

If you’re a frequent flyer with Southwest and in the market for a new credit card, this increased offer is worth considering. Southwest lets Rapid Rewards members redeem miles for any ticket that’s available to purchase with cash, making redemptions easier than with other airlines. Rewards also never expire. But if you’re not a Southwest loyalist, you might do better with a general travel rewards card.

🤓Nerdy Tip

Points earned from all Southwest credit cards, including their welcome bonuses, count toward the airline’s signature Companion Pass. It allows one person to fly with you for free (you'll just pay taxes and fees, starting at $5.60 one way) when you purchase your own ticket.
