Mortgage rates trickled lower in the week ending March 27.
The 30-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 6.77% APR, down three basis points from the previous week's average, according to rates provided to NerdWallet by Zillow. A basis point is one one-hundredth of a percentage point.
The 15-year fixed-rate mortgage averaged 5.99% APR, down two basis points from the previous week's average.
The 5-year adjustable-rate mortgage averaged 7.16% APR, down four basis points from the previous week's average.
The direction of mortgage rates is especially unpredictable heading into April, as higher tariffs on imports are scheduled to be imposed and as other countries consider whether to retaliate by raising tariffs on U.S. exports.
