How many American Airlines miles can you earn?
If you already shop online, there isn’t much extra work involved to earn miles. All you need to do is activate offers and shop.
The number of miles you can earn varies by retailer. Once logged into the AAdvantage shopping portal, you’ll see what different stores offer in terms of earning rates. Shoppers might earn either a certain number of miles per $1 spent or a flat-rate amount of miles for a specific purchase.
There is also a banner at the bottom of the homepage that features current specials to help shoppers earn extra miles. Click the banner and you'll be shown all the current brands offering these bonuses.
For example, when we last checked the available deals, Adidas, which usually offers 1 mile per $1 spent, was offering 5 miles per $1 for a limited time.

You can track and see the miles earned from shopping by clicking “My Account” in the American Airlines shopping portal. Miles are typically credited to your account within 3 to 5 days — but it can take up to 15 days.
Since your AAdvantage loyalty membership is linked to your American Airlines AAdvantage eShopping portal account, the miles will be sent to your AAdvantage loyalty account.
Is this a good deal?
Yes, shopping in the AAdvantage portal is a good deal because it's an effortless way to earn additional miles by purchasing items as you normally would.
If you’re already shopping online and not using this program, then you’re missing out on an easy route to add miles to your account. If you fly American Airlines often or are saving up for an American Airlines award flight, you'll want to consider using the American Airlines shopping portal.

What else you need to know
If you plan to use the American Airlines shopping portal to earn miles, there are a few things to keep in mind:
You must enable cookies to earn miles: Enabling cookies will allow American Airlines to track and verify your purchase. If they can’t verify your purchases, then you can’t earn miles on them.
The browser extension can save you money: In addition to earning miles with the American Airlines shopping portal browser extension, you can save money on your order as well. Some retailers will display coupon codes. If coupons are available and your order qualifies, the best coupon will be applied and save you money at checkout.
Don’t use promotional codes or coupons found elsewhere: Only use promotional codes and coupons displayed in the portal or through the browser extension. If you use other coupons, your purchase may be ineligible to earn miles.
Make sure the offer is activated before shopping: Keep in mind that you have to be connected to the AAdvantage Shopping Portal to receive miles on your purchases. If you are just browsing the AAdvantage eShopping mall and see an offer you may like to purchase, you can’t simply go to that retailer’s website later and earn points off of a purchase. You will either need to return to the AAdvantage eShopping mall, or make sure the AAdvantage eShopping button is installed, to activate the deal and earn miles while you shop.
How returns work: If you return a purchase, your earned miles may be reduced or removed. Check each retailer’s policy for more information on how returns are handled.
