Little things say “relaxing vacation” more than staying by the beach, and Hyatt boasts a number of beachfront hotels and resorts that you may want to consider for your next trip.

If you're looking to stay at a Hyatt hotel or a Hyatt resort on the beach, we've compiled a list of the best Hyatt beach hotels below.

Overview of Hyatt award chart

Hyatt has an eight-tier award chart for its hotels, in which the number of Hyatt points required for a stay booked with Hyatt points will vary based on how Hyatt categorized the hotel (as well as other factors, such as type of room and whether you’re visiting the hotel during off-peak, standard or high season).

Here is Hyatt’s award category chart for standard rooms:

We dive into the top Hyatt beach resorts, including the award category for travelers who want to book their stays with Hyatt points.

1. Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort

On 15 acres of beachfront property, the Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is a luxury resort and spa offering guests a wide range of activities or, for those more inclined to relax, an idyllic pool and beach to spend your days soaking in the sun.

The hotel’s outrigger excursion, available only to Andaz Maui guests, is a “classroom on the ocean,” where you’ll explore Mokapu Beach on one of the hotel’s outrigger canoes while learning about the cultural significance of the outrigger canoe as a mode of transportation and sport in Hawaii.

The Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort features 320 guest rooms, including 35 suites and 30 luxury villas, with every room featuring a private lanai. And when you need a break from the sun, the hotel has four on-site restaurants, including Morimoto Maui, offering Japanese fusion cuisine.

The Andaz Maui at Wailea Resort is an award category 8 hotel.

2. Thompson Zihuatanejo

The Thompson Zihuatanejo, located on Mexico's west coast, opened in 2018. It features 56 beachfront rooms on a tranquil and picturesque beach.

Unlike touristy beach destinations in Mexico, like Cabo, Cancun or even Puerto Vallarta, the Thompson Zihuatanejo benefits from being more off the radar (the hotel calls itself “one of Mexico’s best-kept secrets”), which can help guests have a more authentic and relaxing experience.

For guests looking for excitement, the hotel offers Jet Skiing, parasailing and other outdoor activities, as well as cooking classes and tequila tasting.

The Thompson Zihuatanejo is an award category 6 hotel.

3. Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour

If the Caribbean is more your cup of tea, the Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour is a family-friendly beachfront luxury resort in St. Kitts and is one of our favorite Hyatt beach hotels.

The hotel offers views of the Caribbean Sea and neighboring Nevis island, as well as a full-service spa for those looking to relax on their beach getaway. If your budget allows, we recommend booking a room with a private plunge pool.

The Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour is also an ideal hotel for golfers.Iit’s located near three golf courses, including the Royal St. Kitts Golf Club, considered one of the most scenic golf courses in the Caribbean.

The Park Hyatt St. Kitts Christophe Harbour is an award category 7 hotel.

4. Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa

Located on the white sands of Poipu Beach on the island of Kauai (affectionally referred to as Hawaii’s “garden island”), the Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa is a luxurious oasis for beach lovers. The hotel is on a former sugar plantation, with 602 guest rooms spread across 50 acres.

While you could easily spend your entire trip without leaving the property, we recommend a day trip or two to enjoy some of the sights in Kauai, including a helicopter tour of the Napali Coast or a boat trip to Niihau, one of Kauai’s neighboring islands.

The Grand Hyatt Kauai Resort & Spa is an award category 7 hotel.

5. Alila Villas Uluwatu

The Alila Villas Uluwatu is a cliffside luxury resort in southern Bali with sweeping ocean views throughout. The hotel is an all-villa property featuring 65 villas, the smallest of which measures an impressive 3,000 square feet.

With its cliffside location, you’ll need to walk down 600 steps to get to the beach. Or, if you’re not up for the trek, you can simply enjoy the ocean views from the hotel’s infinity pool.

The Alila Villas Uluwatu is an award category 7 hotel.

6. Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya

Opened in 2016, the Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riveria Maya, located near Playa del Carmen, Mexico, on the Mexican Caribbean coast, is a sprawling oceanfront resort that features 214 guest rooms, five restaurants, a full-service spa and two pools.

Given its secluded location, the Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya is a great option for travelers looking to disconnect, relax and unwind.

The Andaz Mayakoba Resort Riviera Maya is an award category 6 hotel.

7. Hôtel Du Palais Biarritz

The Hôtel Du Palais Biarritz is part of Hyatt’s Unbound Collection and is far from your typical beach hotel. The hotel, which is in Biarritz, France, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, is the former imperial residence of Napoleon III.

Given its history, it's no surprise that the hotel has a more refined European vibe. Though it still has the features you'd want in a beach hotel—including a pool overlooking the ocean, a spa, and ocean-view rooms.

The hotel also features several dining options, including a Michelin-starred restaurant, La Table d'Aurélien Largeau, and The Terrace - Côté Maison, which overlooks the bay of Biarritz.

The Hôtel Du Palais Biarritz is an award category 8 hotel.

If you want to maximize your stay

1. Become a World of Hyatt member to earn Hyatt points for your stay

By signing up for World of Hyatt and booking your stay directly with Hyatt, you’ll earn Hyatt points for your stay, starting at a minimum of 5 base points for every $1 spent. This can add up since NerdWallet values Hyatt points at 2.2 cents each, which means $1,000 in eligible spend would net you 5,000 Hyatt points, worth well over $100.

2. Use a Hyatt credit card during your stay to earn even more points

To supercharge the amount of points you earn on your stay, be sure to use a Hyatt credit card, like the World of Hyatt Credit Card, to pay for your stay.

World of Hyatt Credit Card earns 9 points for every $1 spent at Hyatt hotels and, on top of that, includes Hyatt Discoverist elite status, which offers 5.5 points for every $1 spent. Coupling your World of Hyatt Credit Card with Discoverist status will earn you 14.5 points for every $1 spent — which means $1,000 in eligible spend could net you 14,500 Hyatt points, worth approximately $333.50.

Another credit card option to consider is the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card or Chase Sapphire Reserve®. Hyatt is a 1:1 transfer partner with Chase, which means that one Chase point becomes one Hyatt point.
