Fact Checked

Mexico isn't short on luxury vacation destinations. From spring break hotspots like Cabo San Lucas and Cancun to the ever-popular Puerto Vallarta, Mexico has a spot for just about everyone.

Among the areas worth checking out is the luxurious Punta de Mita. Punta de Mita has several luxury hotel options, such as the Conrad Punta de Mita, which opened in September 2020 as Hilton's first-ever Conrad-branded hotel in Mexico.

What does the Conrad Punta de Mita have to offer? Let us tell you. Here's our review of the Conrad Punta de Mita to help you decide if the hotel is right for your next trip to Mexico.

Location

The Conrad Punta de Mita is located on Mexico's Pacific coast, roughly a 45-minute drive northwest of the Puerto Vallarta airport. The best way to get to the Conrad Punta de Mita is to fly directly into Puerto Vallarta's airport, Gustavo Díaz Ordaz International Airport, and either take a taxi from the airport or book transport through the hotel.

Punta de Mita is home to several luxurious hotels, including the Four Seasons Punta Mita Resort, The St. Regis Punta Mita Resort and the W Punta de Mita. Although close to Puerto Vallarta, Punta de Mita is quite different — while Puerto Vallarta is walkable with a vibrant nightlife, Punta de Mita is much quieter and has more of a laid-back beach scene.

Design

The Conrad Punta de Mita was explicitly designed to have large, open, airy buildings and lush, tropical vegetation, which Hilton describes as a "nature-centric aesthetic." In addition, the Pacific Ocean takes center stage at the resort, with all 324 guest rooms boasting ocean views.

The hotel's design is modern and luxurious — so if you're looking for traditional Mexican architecture and design, this is probably not the hotel for you. But what the hotel lacks in traditional design, it makes up for by creating a welcoming, peaceful environment that makes you never want to leave.

Food and beverage

It wouldn't be a trip to Mexico without amazing food and beverage options — and Conrad Punta de Mita delivers here.

Restaurants at the resort include:

  • CODEX. A signature restaurant showcasing traditional and modern Mexican cooking techniques.

  • Mezquite. Offers beachfront dining featuring American and Mexican favorites.

  • Arbol. Home to the breakfast buffet and dinners that focus on regional specialty dishes.

  • Paleta. A lunchtime spot for tacos, pizza, burgers and fresh ceviche.

In addition to formal restaurants, there are several bars, including the Aurora Pool Bar, Agave Studio and Tuki, and in-room dining. Throughout my stay, I enjoyed every meal and was particularly impressed by the breakfast buffet, which was complimentary because of my Hilton Diamond status.

Accommodations

The Conrad Punta de Mita has more than a dozen different room types, all with ocean views. The rooms are quite spacious — the lowest-priced room I could find for an upcoming trip was the Partial Ocean View Room with two queen beds and 705 square feet of space for $879 per night. In comparison, the most expensive room for the dates I was looking for was the Beachfront Grand Suite with a plunge pool, which offers guests 2,526 square feet of space and came in at $4,652 per night.

Although I booked a Partial Ocean View Room, the cheapest option, I was given a complimentary upgrade to a Beachfront Signature Suite with a private plunge pool — which currently goes for around $2,800 per night.

Staying in the Beachfront Signature Suite was a truly memorable experience — I spent my days repeatedly walking out my front balcony to the ocean, taking a swim and then coming back to my covered private plunge pool when I needed a break from the sun.

Amenities

It's important that your hotel has amenities you want to enjoy, as you'll likely spend much of your time at the resort.

The Conrad Punta de Mita's amenities include:

  • Conrad Spa.

  • State-of-the-art gym.

  • Four pools, including private cabana rentals.

  • Two-mile swimmable beach in front of the resort.

  • Water activities like surfing, paddle boarding and snorkeling.

  • Access to the Higuera Golf Club.

  • And more.

If you're looking for a more adventurous trip, you can book experiences through the hotel, such as horseback riding, zip lining and whale watching.
