If you’re looking to earn or redeem Frontier Miles, you don’t necessarily have to fly with the airline. In fact, a number of Frontier Airlines partners offer a few ways to travel and earn miles without boarding a Frontier-operated flight.

While Frontier is not part of any airline alliances like Oneworld or Star Alliance — so miles earned aren’t transferable or usable for booking across a number of airlines like on Alaska or Delta — the airline does have some travel partners that can help you earn miles.

Frontier has a total of 11 partners, only one of which is an airline partner. Frontier has seven car rental partners and three hotel partners. Each Frontier partner offers varying earning potential for Frontier miles.

Volaris is Frontier’s only airline partner, but only via codesharing. This means the airlines utilize each other’s routes to offer more flight options and flexibility to one another’s customers. For example, a codeshare flight may be a mix of passengers who booked through two separate airlines on their respective websites, but the plane is only owned and operated by one of them.

These tickets will be listed online with a note that states “this flight is operated by Volaris” if you’re booking on Frontier’s website or “this flight is operated by Frontier” on the Volaris website.

That said, because they’re not airline alliance partners, you cannot use miles from one airline to book an award flight on another. What’s more, you may not earn Frontier Miles for flights booked with, or even operated by, Volaris.

Most of the major car rental companies partner with Frontier to offer the opportunity to earn airline miles with each booking. Some even offer discounts for Frontier Miles members.

• Alamo. Frontier Miles members can earn 50 miles per day on rentals of four days or less or 500 miles on rentals of five days or longer. Use the dedicated link on the Frontier partner page online to book with ease.

• Avis. You can earn 4x miles plus get 35% off rates when you rent a car with Avis for three or more days. Do take note that you’ll have to enter a specific code and Avis coupon in order to enjoy those perks. Check the Frontier Partners page on the Frontier website before you book to copy the codes.

• Budget. When renting a car with Budget, you can earn Frontier Miles plus score up to 30% off. You just have to enter a dedicated coupon code (available on the Frontier Partners page on Frontier.com) and enter your Frontier Miles number during reservation. You can also provide it at the rental counter. You’ll earn 500 miles for a rental of three to four days and 1,000 miles for rentals of five days or longer.

• Dollar. Similar to Alamo’s earning structure, Frontier Miles members can earn 50 miles per day on rentals of one to four days and 500 miles on rentals of five days or longer. Again, just provide your frequent flyer number during the reservation process. You can also give it to the employees at the rental counter during pick-up.

• Hertz. You can score up to 500 miles every time you rent a car with Hertz, plus save on base rental rates. You just have to include a special discount code (found on Frontier’s partner page online) in addition to your frequent flyer number during reservation.

• National. Rent with National and you can score up to 20% off your car rental as a Frontier Miles member, plus 500 miles if you rent for five days or more and 50 miles per day on car rentals of four days or less. Share your Frontier Miles number when you make the reservation. If you forgot, you can request a credit retroactively up to six months after your rental date is over.

• Thrifty. Thrifty offers a couple of ways to earn, depending on how long you’re renting: 50 Frontier Miles per day on rentals of one to four days or 500 miles on rentals of five days or more. All you have to do is enter your Frontier Miles number during your initial reservation or once you get to the rental counter.

Several major hotel chains offer ways to earn Frontier Miles with every stay, and some also allow you to transfer hotel points to your Frontier Miles account.

How to earn Frontier Miles with Marriott Bonvoy

Stay at one of more than 7,000 participating Marriott hotels worldwide and you can earn miles that vary, depending on the hotel you book.

How to earn Frontier Miles with Wyndham

If you’re a member of Wyndham Rewards, you can earn a variety of awards for each dollar you spend on qualified stays at participating hotels, depending on what rewards tier you’ve reached.

Blue and Gold Wyndham Rewards Members can earn one mile per dollar while Platinum and Diamond members earn two miles per dollar. All you need to do is select Frontier as your airline rewards program of choice in your Wyndham Rewards account.
