Your credit score represents your creditworthiness — the higher the score, the more trustworthy you appear to lenders. You can find out your credit score for free in Australia, and scores range from zero to 1,200, depending on the credit agency.
In general, you can submit a request as many times as you like, and it won’t affect your credit score. However, where you get your score is important. Scores are free, and readily available from the three major credit agencies in Australia: Experian, Equifax or illion. Avoid any provider that requires you to pay.
🤓 Nerdy Tip
If you want a deeper look at your credit history, you can get a free copy of your credit report every three months from Experian, Equifax and illion. Credit reports contain detailed information about your credit activity like credit limits and missed payments. Your score is not always in your report.
Where to get your free credit score
MoneySmart, the government website, recommends contacting one of the three credit bureaus, Experian, Equifax or illion, or visiting the CreditSmart website to find a third-party provider, such as CreditSavvy, Wisr or ClearScore.

Getting a free credit score through your bank
Most of the Big Four banks direct you to the three credit bureaus, or third-party credit score providers to get your free score. This isn’t always the case, though. For example, the Commonwealth Bank (in partnership with Credit Savvy and Experian) offers customers free access to their credit scores via their online portal and mobile app.
