Earn Uber Credits With Your Eligible Visa Card

Need a ride? Your thumb might not get you very far these days, but your Visa credit card is a different story.

That's because right now you can earn Uber credits when you use your Visa card at participating local restaurants and businesses, thanks to the Visa Local Offers program.

First, you’ll need the latest version of the Uber app and an eligible Visa credit card. The following are some of the Visa cards you could use to earn both card rewards and Uber credits:

• The Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card offers 5 points per $1 spent on all travel booked through Chase; 3 points per $1 spent on dining (including eligible delivery services and takeout), streaming services, and on online grocery purchases (not including Target, Walmart and wholesale clubs); 2 points per $1 spent on travel not booked through Chase; and 1 point per $1 spent on other purchases.

• The Chase Freedom® is offering 5% cash back at restaurants and movie theaters in the third quarter of 2017 (on up to $1,500 spent this quarter), and 1% on everything else

• The Bank of America® Travel Rewards credit card earns an unlimited 1.5 points per $1 spent on all purchases

• The Costco Anywhere Visa® Card by Citi earns 4% cash back on gas and EV charging purchases (for the first $7,000 spent annually, then 1%), 3% on restaurant and eligible travel purchases, 2% on purchases from Costco and Costco.com, and 1% on all other purchases

To participate in the program, open the Uber app, go to your messages and find the one from Visa Local Offers. Click “Get Started” and then select “Count Me In.” You might have to search your account settings for the offer.

Once you’re set up, you’ll be able to see participating local merchants. Then use your card at these businesses and watch the Uber credits roll in.
