NerdWallet reviewed more than 75 travel cards. To be considered, a card had to be widely available, have an annual fee of less than $100, deliver either a flat rewards rate of 1.5% or better on all purchases or a rate of at least 2% on travel-related purchases, and earn a flexible rewards currency that can be easily redeemed toward a wide variety of travel expenses. The cards we reviewed include products from NerdWallet partners, but this did not influence our selection of the winner.
