How we chose the winner:

Among financial institutions with free business checking (no monthly fee or minimum balance), the winner was the institution with the highest number of free transactions per month.
In case of a tie, banks and credit unions were compared by category in the following order until one institution remained:
  • ATM access (institutions with national ATM availability were given priority).
  • Most branches.
  • Banking experience.
