Fetch pet insurance plan options
Deductibles: A pet insurance deductible is the amount you need to pay toward your vet bills before your insurance company starts reimbursing you. The deductible options you see when getting a Fetch quote online will vary depending on your pet and where you live. We saw choices ranging from $250 to $700 per year in our sample quotes, but deductibles as high as $2,500 may be available over the phone.
Reimbursement amounts: You can choose reimbursement for 70%, 80% or 90% of your expenses.
Fetch uses a method of calculating claim payouts that’s common among many pet insurers but less generous than it could be. The company applies your reimbursement rate to your vet bill first, then subtracts your deductible. If you have a $2,000 vet bill, an 80% reimbursement rate and a $500 deductible, here’s how Fetch might calculate your reimbursement:
$2,000 vet bill x 0.8 (80% reimbursement rate) = $1,600.
$1,600 - $500 deductible = $1,100.
You’d pay the remaining $900.
Did you know...
Some insurers subtract your deductible first, then apply your reimbursement rate. In the example above, those insurers would pay $1,200. Here’s the math:
$2,000 vet bill - $500 deductible = $1,500.
$1,500 x 0.8 (80% reimbursement) = $1,200.
Coverage limits: The company website offers annual coverage limits of $5,000, $10,000 or $15,000. Additional limits may be available over the phone, including an unlimited annual benefit.

Restrictions and waiting periods
Age restrictions: Fetch doesn't cover pets younger than 6 weeks old. There's no upper age limit.
Waiting periods: Waiting periods are the time between when you buy your policy and when your coverage starts. Fetch has a 15-day waiting period for illnesses and most injuries, with a six-month waiting period for hip and knee injuries. The company may waive the knee injury waiting period if you have a vet examine your pet within the first 30 days of your policy.
If your pet gets sick or injured during the waiting period, treatment won’t be covered — and the condition will be considered pre-existing going forward. Learn more about pre-existing conditions.
