Many or all of the products featured here are from our partners who compensate us. This may influence which products we write about and where and how the product appears on a page. However, this does not influence our evaluations. Our opinions are our own. Here is a list of our partners and here's how we make money.

Capital One business credit cards are known for their generous rewards and simplicity. The issuer’s business credit cards all have no-limit reward programs, meaning you’ll earn points or miles on every dollar your business spends. Plus, Capital One business cards have no foreign transaction fees. But most Spark business cards will show up on your personal credit report, which is something to consider if you'll carry a balance. And while Capital One does have options for fair or good credit, most of its business cards require excellent credit.

Capital One® Spark® Classic for Business

Our pick for: Business owners with fair credit
NerdWallet star rating: 3.3
The rewards rate on the
Capital One® Spark® Classic for Business
isn't going to wow anyone; there's no sign-up bonus and the APR is high. What makes this card valuable is that it's available to business operators with fair credit, who don't have a lot of options in business credit cards.

Capital One® Spark® Miles Select for Business

Our pick for: Travel card with no annual fee
NerdWallet star rating: 4.4
The
Capital One® Spark® Miles Select for Business
offers a lower rewards rate and a smaller bonus offer than the regular Spark Miles card, but there's no annual fee, either. Smaller spenders might come out ahead compared with the regular version. Learn more and apply.

How to choose a Capital One business credit card

Answer these questions to choose the right Capital One business credit card for you:
  • What’s your credit score? You’ll need excellent credit to qualify for most of Capital One’s cards. If you have fair credit, the
Capital One® Spark® Classic for Business
    is your best bet.
  • Do you want to be able to carry a balance? Two of the cards in Capital One’s lineup —
    Capital One Venture X Business
    and
    Capital One Spark Cash Plus
    — are business charge cards, which means you’ll have to pay off your balance in full every month.
  • What kind of rewards do you want to earn? Cash back is the better deal for most people because you can redeem these rewards as a check or statement credit, making it easy to use them however you want. Miles, which are worth 1 cent each, can be redeemed only for travel — either for booking trips directly through Capital One's travel portal or as a statement credit against travel purchases. But if you’re loyal to Capital One travel rewards, the high rewards rates on the
    Capital One Venture X Business
    may be enticing.
  • Do you mind paying an annual fee? If so, focus on cards with the word “Select” in their name. Those cards —
    Capital One Spark Cash Select
    ,
Capital One® Spark® Miles Select for Business
    — don’t charge annual fees. Consider the
Capital One® Spark® Classic for Business
, the fair-credit option, as well.

Alternatives to Capital One business credit cards

Capital One’s no-fuss approach can make its business credit cards a good fit for lots of entrepreneurs — even those without excellent credit. But if you don’t mind a higher-maintenance card or are seeking specific perks, the following alternatives are solid choices too.

Ink Business Cash® Credit Card

Better for: Cash back on bonus categories
The
Capital One Spark Cash Plus
credit card offers a strong
2%-5%
cash back on all purchases. (See rates and fees.) The $
0
-annual-fee
Capital One Spark Cash Select
matches the industry standard of
1.5%-5%
. (See rates and fees.) But if common expenses like office supplies and telecommunication tools make up most of your spending, consider the
Ink Business Cash® Credit Card
instead. It comes with
1%-5%
cash back, a welcome bonus and a perk those Capital One business credit cards lack:
0% intro APR on Purchases for 12 months, and then the ongoing APR of 17.74%-25.74% Variable APR
.
Best for: Luxury travel rewards card that allows a balance
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express
isn’t cheap: Its
$695
annual fee far exceeds that of the
Capital One Venture X Business
card (
$395
). (See rates and fees.) At first glance, the benefits are similar — high rewards rates on hotels and rental cars booked through the issuers’ websites and access to a nationwide network of airport lounges, for instance. But the AmEx card allows you to carry a balance, while the
Capital One Venture X Business
does not. That alone may not be worth an extra few hundred dollars in annual fees. However, if you want to pay off a balance over time and you’ll take advantage of credits that AmEx offers that Capital One doesn’t (such as on purchases with Dell, Indeed and Adobe),
The Business Platinum Card® from American Express
might make sense for you. Terms apply.

Information for the Capital One® Spark® Classic for Business and Capital One® Spark® Miles Select for Business not reviewed by or provided by Capital One.
For Capital One products listed on this page, some of the above benefits are provided by Visa® or Mastercard® and may vary by product. See the respective Guide to Benefits for details, as terms and exclusions apply.

Methodology

NerdWallet's business credit card team selects the best small-business credit cards without outside input from partners or other business interests. We evaluate business cards based on value and simplicity, weighing fees, sign-up bonuses and reward rates, alongside perks like interest-free periods, statement credits and elite status (for travel cards). Business cards that earn the highest scores deliver the most value to the greatest number of business owners.
Notable changes to our methodology for 2025 include factoring in whether spending on employee cards earns rewards and counts toward the welcome offer requirements. We also now consider what information the card issuer reports to consumer credit bureaus. Learn how NerdWallet rates credit cards.
